[You know what Mayfield has been missing out on?
CHAINSWORDS
These machines you may know as 'sounder pounder tree cutterdowners' are somehow swords and your two favorite Warhammer 40k heroes are dueling with them.
None of the smoke associated with chainsaws is to be seen but the sound and the whirring of the blades can't be missed. Not to mention the sparks caused by the clash of blades.
Yes, they're clashing.
Standing a good foot and a half shorter than Garviel, Cain is somehow managing to not get a chainsword blade stuck in his head. He can't fight the Space Marine strength on strength but his ability to deflect the blade must either be instinct or awesome skill. Either way, they still pause every so often because fighting a frakking Astartes is like hitting your head on a brick wall.
Feel free to gawk, think they're insane, or that their weapons can't be wieldy due to physics but they still handle them like they're Jedi Masters.
At the park, of course.
Garviel and Cain will be tagging the threads separately and threadjacking between the two may happen.]

Date: 2011-06-10 01:13 am (UTC)[He pauses.] As a member of the Mournival, I had to do political things I didn't care for at some points. We may have to use her to achieve an equitable outcome for the humans trapped here.
There are a few you can trust though. Ciel. She is... [he hesitates.]
I trust her implicitly.
Souji and Eiki are both worthy of trust as well. The supreme judge is very just, and quite honorable, and Souji is a good boy.

Date: 2011-06-10 01:20 am (UTC)[He pauses.] I.. should tell you. I am close friends with a sanctioned psyker here. She is without taint, and I know this because... well, I saw taint infect an entire legion. We have oaths to one another. Should either of us become corrupted, we'll kill the other.

Date: 2011-06-10 01:30 am (UTC)She's noble and self-sacrificing, though sometimes I think i'm the only one who sees it. I know what she has given up for others.
[He looks distant.] It is strange, to care so much for a mortal, Cain. Outside of the Legion I had only a few remembrancers and Iterators as friends. And she uses the warp. And yet...
She is an example of what Imperial humanity should be. Virtuous, brave, disciplined, wise, and potent. I just wish she could wake up in the morning more easily.
She saved my life, once, actually, when someone had punctured my primary heart with a dastardly attack from behind.

Date: 2011-06-10 01:38 am (UTC)No. I knew her before her powers were active, actually.
She was the same person then as she is now. That's the best way to gauge people here. What they're like without any of the the crutches they rely on.

You shouldn't be too friendly with that fat bastard, though. He's a murderer, and not the useful sort.

Date: 2011-06-10 03:34 am (UTC)You and I should probably have a serious discussion one day on what the Imperium used to be and what it is now. Guys like that fat one? Probably your average Commissar or even a Lord General.
