CHAINSWORDS

These machines you may know as 'sounder pounder tree cutterdowners' are somehow swords and your two favorite Warhammer 40k heroes are dueling with them.

None of the smoke associated with chainsaws is to be seen but the sound and the whirring of the blades can't be missed. Not to mention the sparks caused by the clash of blades.

Yes, they're clashing.

Standing a good foot and a half shorter than Garviel, Cain is somehow managing to not get a chainsword blade stuck in his head. He can't fight the Space Marine strength on strength but his ability to deflect the blade must either be instinct or awesome skill. Either way, they still pause every so often because fighting a frakking Astartes is like hitting your head on a brick wall.

Feel free to gawk, think they're insane, or that their weapons can't be wieldy due to physics but they still handle them like they're Jedi Masters.

At the park, of course.

Garviel and Cain will be tagging the threads separately and threadjacking between the two may happen.]

Killed? I can hardly believe it.

[identity profile] hideandhero.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know how the stories go. All I do know is that he's rotting on the Golden Throne.

[identity profile] lunawolves10th.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
I know very little about the Throne. I have never been to Terra.

[Yet.]

[identity profile] hideandhero.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
It's a fact that he's a corpse. No way around that.

[identity profile] lunawolves10th.livejournal.com 2011-06-12 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
But you serve him still. Explain.

[identity profile] hideandhero.livejournal.com 2011-06-12 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
[Cain looks at Garv like he's insane.]

He's the God-Emperor. He fights the Dark Gods on their own plane of existence, ensuring humanity's survival. [At least, that is the drivel given to Commissar's and people of a high enough rank.]

[identity profile] lunawolves10th.livejournal.com 2011-06-12 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Wait... so he's... dead but not dead.

[Garviel frowns.]

He always told us -not- to worship him as a god. Insisted on it, in fact.

[identity profile] hideandhero.livejournal.com 2011-06-12 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
[You know, he doesn't trust the guy but...he also trusts him to not lie. He leans over and his voice drops.]

I don't know if there are any Inquisitors around here since they're good at hiding but...

...keep that to yourself for the time being. They'll kill you if that got out.

IRONY OF THIS THREAD HAS JUST GONE OVER 9000

What's an inquisitor?

[Asks the man who will help found either the inquisition or the Grey Knights. Or both.]

[identity profile] hideandhero.livejournal.com 2011-06-12 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
If the Guard is the shield of the Empire and the Astartes are the sword of the Empire, the Inquisition is the person who makes sure either aren't rusty or broken down.

And they won't hesitate to "replace" a weapon if they have to, if you get my drift.

[identity profile] lunawolves10th.livejournal.com 2011-06-12 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. I see. [His brow furrows, and he considers something rather unhappy.]

I wonder if they might not have saved us from what happened, had they been established in my time.

[identity profile] hideandhero.livejournal.com 2011-06-12 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
[This is actually pretty world changing for him though. There are a lot of things he'd like to not do but does so because he could get in massive trouble for it.

The more he thinks about it, the more it hits on him harder. Finally he just turns around and sighs.]

You need to do me a favor.

[identity profile] hideandhero.livejournal.com 2011-06-12 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
First of all, you're going to have to tell me about what the Emperor...really wants. Secondly, if some Inquisitor shows up, you're going to have to guard my back.

[identity profile] lunawolves10th.livejournal.com 2011-06-12 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
The Emperor wanted humanity to rule the galaxy. And he wanted for us to understand the old superstitions were foolish and dangerous. That knowledge, and science were the keys to the cosmos, and we should believe in truth of logic and rationality. The Imperial Truth.

[identity profile] hideandhero.livejournal.com 2011-06-12 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
We'll have to spend more time on this later, of course.

[identity profile] lunawolves10th.livejournal.com 2011-06-12 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
Of course. And worry not about these inquisitors. They have no writ over me.

[Technically true, at least in his own time.]

[identity profile] hideandhero.livejournal.com 2011-06-12 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think they do either but I'm pretty sure they could get away with killing one of you with no problems.

[identity profile] lunawolves10th.livejournal.com 2011-06-12 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
Getting away with and successfully managing to kill me are two separate things.

[identity profile] lunawolves10th.livejournal.com 2011-06-13 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
You know... Ciel managed to fight me to an even draw once. We went as all out as we could without murdering one another. She's an impressive warrior, Cain.
