[You know what Mayfield has been missing out on?

CHAINSWORDS

These machines you may know as 'sounder pounder tree cutterdowners' are somehow swords and your two favorite Warhammer 40k heroes are dueling with them.

None of the smoke associated with chainsaws is to be seen but the sound and the whirring of the blades can't be missed. Not to mention the sparks caused by the clash of blades.

Yes, they're clashing.

Standing a good foot and a half shorter than Garviel, Cain is somehow managing to not get a chainsword blade stuck in his head. He can't fight the Space Marine strength on strength but his ability to deflect the blade must either be instinct or awesome skill. Either way, they still pause every so often because fighting a frakking Astartes is like hitting your head on a brick wall.

Feel free to gawk, think they're insane, or that their weapons can't be wieldy due to physics but they still handle them like they're Jedi Masters.

At the park, of course.

Garviel and Cain will be tagging the threads separately and threadjacking between the two may happen.]

That seems to be the general consensus. This is pretty common where we're from.

[identity profile] appleknighted.livejournal.com 2011-06-09 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
They are? Uh. So everyone fights with those?

Doesn't that get loud?

[identity profile] hideandhero.livejournal.com 2011-06-09 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Only officers, Commissars, and Astartes. Most soldiers just have a lasgun and a bayonet.

[identity profile] appleknighted.livejournal.com 2011-06-09 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
And you were a Commissar, right? One of the... cheerleader... ones.

[Recall, memory. Recaaaall!]

[identity profile] hideandhero.livejournal.com 2011-06-09 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
If by cheerleader you mean 'put a pistol to the back of a retreating soldier's head and tell him to get back in the firing line or else', then yes. Not that I do that but it's pretty common for other Commissars.

[identity profile] appleknighted.livejournal.com 2011-06-09 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
That's good. You'd be kind of mean if you did stuff like that!

Um. I know I'm not an officer, buuut... can I hold it?

[identity profile] hideandhero.livejournal.com 2011-06-09 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Just...be careful.

[He grabs the safety strip on the back and offers it out handle first.]

this icon does not match holding a 40k warhammer chainsword at aaaall

[identity profile] appleknighted.livejournal.com 2011-06-09 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
I can?! Thank you! I promise not to drop it!

[Sora reaches out and grips the handle with both hands. Properly, too. She's used swords plenty of times! Just... not any this... chainsaw-like.]

[identity profile] hideandhero.livejournal.com 2011-06-09 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
You could probably drop it from two hundred feet up and it wouldn't break. Either way, just thumb the activation switch and it'll start.

[identity profile] appleknighted.livejournal.com 2011-06-09 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
REALLY?! That far? Have you tried?

[Sora looks down at the handle until she spots the switch. Oh wow Koharu would be so mad right now if she saw her with this thing buuuuut...

...

She hits the switch anyway! Chaaaainsaaaaaw on!

No but these things are built to last forever.

[identity profile] appleknighted.livejournal.com 2011-06-09 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
[Too bad there aren't any really tall buildings in Mayfield, huh?]

It's not as shaky as I thought it would be! [She moves the chainsword up and down. No side-to-side.] Wow. I bet everyone back home would run if I had one of these in Exaclan.

[identity profile] hideandhero.livejournal.com 2011-06-09 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
You say that now but if you're not strong enough to hold it in place when you lock blades with someone, it'll be painful.

[identity profile] appleknighted.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh? [It takes a second, but she can figure out why.] Because the moving chain would make it shake a lot, right?

[identity profile] hideandhero.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
It would rip it right out of your hands, yes.

[identity profile] appleknighted.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Whoa. Really? How strong do you have to be to fight with one?

[identity profile] appleknighted.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
CAN I? Yes! Definitely! [Wow, this can't possibly go wrong at all.]

[identity profile] hideandhero.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
[He grabs the safety strip on the back and passes it over.]

[identity profile] appleknighted.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
[...hadn't she already been holding it? Well okay, now she is holding it again!]

Um, but there isn't anything to hit. [There is a flaw in this plan.]

[identity profile] hideandhero.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
[This is what I get for RPing tired. EITHER WAY.]

We're in the park. There's a tree somewhere.

[identity profile] appleknighted.livejournal.com 2011-06-13 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
A tree? A tree! Okay! Let's go find a tree... [She looks around. Tree, tree, tree-- tree! There's one not too far off. Time to trot off over towards it with the chainsword in tow.]

[identity profile] hideandhero.livejournal.com 2011-06-13 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
[Just going to watch from a safe distance.]

[identity profile] appleknighted.livejournal.com 2011-06-13 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
Uh... [She kind of feels bad for the tree once she's right up by it, buuuut. Sorry, tree. Chainsword.] All right! Here goes!

[She thumbs the on switch and assaults the tree trunk.] Wh-wh-o-o-a-a-a! [THIS THING REALLY DOES SHAKE A LOT. It takes longer than it should for her to turn the sword back off.

And...

....now it's in a tree.
]

...w-wow.
