CHAINSWORDS

These machines you may know as 'sounder pounder tree cutterdowners' are somehow swords and your two favorite Warhammer 40k heroes are dueling with them.

None of the smoke associated with chainsaws is to be seen but the sound and the whirring of the blades can't be missed. Not to mention the sparks caused by the clash of blades.

Yes, they're clashing.

Standing a good foot and a half shorter than Garviel, Cain is somehow managing to not get a chainsword blade stuck in his head. He can't fight the Space Marine strength on strength but his ability to deflect the blade must either be instinct or awesome skill. Either way, they still pause every so often because fighting a frakking Astartes is like hitting your head on a brick wall.

Feel free to gawk, think they're insane, or that their weapons can't be wieldy due to physics but they still handle them like they're Jedi Masters.

At the park, of course.

Garviel and Cain will be tagging the threads separately and threadjacking between the two may happen.]

[She giggles brightly.]

There really isn't anything subtle at all about a chain-sword. I could hear the revving from 2 streets down! Does it have an official name?

[To which she shakes her head.] No, but I have noticed that my things are starting to get into the habit of arriving late. Well, I won't think about it; it's probably just the town's idea of another prank. [Because her last regain.... y e a h . . .]

[personal profile] ex_seventh238 2011-06-10 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Would you really think that someone like me could qualify, Commissar? [She sort of looks at herself but still holding that grocery bag. Around 5'4" and looks to be in her early twenties... Clearly not a woman made for the battlefield...............]

[identity profile] timetables.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
Alright. If I ever feel like brushing up, you'll be the dude I go to.

[identity profile] hideandhero.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
Yep.

[Kids get conscripted at the age of fifteen. WELCOME TO THE GUARD.]
thenorthernwall: (Hope it gives you hell.)

[Her face says she does not believe you. She pushes on a thing and it magically makes it work... Yeah, uh-huh, okay.]

[identity profile] lunawolves10th.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
[Garviel is quiet and lets her discover for herself. Hopefully without chopping any limbs off.]

[identity profile] lunawolves10th.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
Mark Xf Hell's Teeth pattern, I believe. [He nods.]

This place is insidious. There are a few glimmers of light in it though. Good people I have met... I believe my mind has been opened a bit, both to the fair and foul of the world.

I suppose even a man who is over a century old can still learn new things.

[identity profile] lunawolves10th.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Remember, Cain, I was one of two who picked up on Horus' corruption before the betrayal at Istvaan. I know how to read people, even primarchs, and am not easily swayed.

[He shrugs.]

You shouldn't be too friendly with that fat bastard, though. He's a murderer, and not the useful sort.

[identity profile] lunawolves10th.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
[Garviel gives him a smile.] Talk to cain as well, he's quite an excellent swordsman and a little closer to your size. You'll learn more about fighting human opponents from him than you can from me.

[identity profile] hideandhero.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
[Cain scratches his chin for a moment before reaching up and patting one of the shoulder pauldrons.]

You and I should probably have a serious discussion one day on what the Imperium used to be and what it is now. Guys like that fat one? Probably your average Commissar or even a Lord General.

[identity profile] lunawolves10th.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
What a saddening revelation.

[identity profile] timetables.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
I guess you probably stick with fighting other giants or something, huh.

[identity profile] lunawolves10th.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
[Garviel beams a smile, and slides his helmet back on.]

[identity profile] weiss-tank.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Have fun Garvi! I'll catch you guys later.

[identity profile] hideandhero.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
Welcome to M41.
yamaxanadu: (cheerful point)

[personal profile] yamaxanadu 2011-06-10 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
And I still look forward to that day.

[personal profile] ex_seventh238 2011-06-10 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
Mm... I suppose that I won't do too badly. Are people like Garviel common in your time? I just know that a person like him is a Space Marine, who underwent genetic modification and additional organic implants to become more suited for fighting. The things to repel must be much harder in your time, but going from mine, the armor he usually wears seem excessive, and he's comparable to a walking fortress. He's talked about his world many times, but it's hard to follow when the very idea of whole new galaxies being open to humans is a hard one to grasp. But still, ten thousand years! How much have things changed? [mumbling to herself now and obviously not expecting an answer. she probably wouldn't get it even if one was given to her...]

[identity profile] hideandhero.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
Guys like him exist but there's a lot less of them. His boss had to go and turn against the Emperor, dragging about half of them into his heretical ways. A normal person could go three lifetimes without seeing one but I've worked with them before.

And things to repel? Let me tell you, there are creatures out there that could rip his armor apart like cardboard. It's not a pretty sight.

[personal profile] ex_seventh238 2011-06-10 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
That does sound intimidating. Hm... it fits. [NODDING TO HERSELF. Swords are neat and all but she's more of a gun person okok.]

Aha, that's right. ...You really don't seem that old, I think. [Mostly because his unwavering belief in righteousness is more reminiscent of a little boy's...]

[personal profile] ex_seventh238 2011-06-10 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
So that's the short version of it, and the whole Universe got dragged down in the process? [Just pensive, she's not showing much shock or surprise.

Not to politics, anyway. These things, on the other hand.]

Goodness. That does enforce my personal belief that it's best to not get hit in the first place. The bigger you are, the more you make yourself a target, too. Um, out of curiosity, Commissar. Have you seriously fought against a Space Marine? And how did it go?

[identity profile] hideandhero.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
The whole of humanity got dragged down. There's more to the universe than humans and Chaos.

Me? I've killed two singlehandedly with this very same chainsword. The heretic version, of course.

[personal profile] ex_seventh238 2011-06-10 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
I see, that does make sense. [nod nod

eating it up and looking IMPRESSED]
That must have been amazing to witness! ...Oh, I do apologize. I wasn't underestimating you, mister Cain, but I do know from firsthand experience that Garviel hits hard, so seeing another human fight him is a bit worrisome, even if it's just a spar. Those weapons are dangerous too, so if any accident happened, it could really end badly if you're not careful. Are you really okay with that?

[identity profile] hideandhero.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
It's alright if we take a break every now and then. The guy can wear me out fast but in a combat situation, one of us would be making the kill as fast as possible.

[personal profile] ex_seventh238 2011-06-10 06:56 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, definitely! [Nods knowingly.] But please be careful anyway! I have the means to reattach cut-off limbs, but it'll be better for everyone if no accidents happen in the first place.

[identity profile] appleknighted.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh? [It takes a second, but she can figure out why.] Because the moving chain would make it shake a lot, right?
